The Sydney Royal Easter Show Has Kicked Off For 2026
The annual Sydney Royal Easter Show has officially kicked off at Sydney Olympic Park, bringing two weeks of rural tradition, carnival attractions, and family-friendly entertainment to the city over the Easter long weekend. Organisers are expecting more than 850,000 visitors throughout the fortnight, which runs until Monday, April 13.
The 2026 show offers an expanded array of attractions, including adrenaline-pumping rides, interactive animal encounters, and competitions ranging from livestock judging to art and craft displays. Daily fireworks light up the night sky, while a vibrant light parade and live stage performances add to the festival atmosphere. Visitors can explore immersive pavilions featuring regional produce, handmade crafts, and cutting-edge technology exhibits. For younger audiences, interactive workshops and themed play zones provide hands-on experiences throughout the grounds.
Food lovers can sample an array of culinary delights, from classic carnival treats to gourmet offerings from across New South Wales. Showbags remain a highlight, though safety checks have seen a few items removed from sale ahead of the opening.
City transport networks, however, are expected to face major disruption during the long weekend. Planned closures and maintenance on the Sydney Metro will affect several lines, prompting officials to urge commuters and showgoers to allow extra travel time.
Safety remains a priority at the event, with NSW Fair Trading inspectors monitoring showbags ahead of the opening, removing at least one toy for failing to meet safety standards. The NSW State Emergency Service is also present on-site, running interactive displays to educate visitors about flood and storm preparedness.
Rising fuel prices have impacted travel costs for many regional families, but organisers confirmed that all registered exhibitors are attending and the show is proceeding without significant issues. First-time visitors are advised that gates open at 8:30 am daily, most pavilions at 9 am, and parking is available by pre-booking, though spaces may sell out on busy days such as Good Friday.
