Sydney’s late-summer ritual of movies under the stars is shifting into awards-season mode, with Moonlight Cinema unveiling a March lineup that leans into buzzy new releases, cult classics and a splash of pop spectacle at Centennial Parklands.

Running at the Belvedere Amphitheatre through to Sunday, 5 April 2026, the open-air cinema’s latest program folds Oscars chatter, IT-girl hype, and fan-driven nostalgia into its final stretch of the season.

The March slate, announced today, places particular focus on headline-making titles. Among them is the darkly romantic new adaptation of Wuthering Heights, starring Queenslanders Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, screening in Sydney on 13, 15 and 20 March. Already one of the most talked-about films of the season, the brooding literary reimagining is expected to draw both period-drama devotees and curious newcomers keen to see how the classic has been reframed for contemporary audiences.

In a move that taps directly into pop-culture fandom, Moonlight will also host a special Sydney screening of Charli XCX’s mockumentary The Moment on 5 March — the day of its release. The one-night event positions the venue as more than just a replay house for big studio films, but a space for shared cultural moments — particularly for music fans eager to see the singer’s on-screen experiment unfold in a communal setting.

Moonlight Cinema March highlights

Following the Oscars, several awards-season titles will hit the Sydney screen, including One Battle After Another, Sinners, Hamnet and Marty Supreme, giving local audiences a chance to catch up on critical favourites in an alfresco setting.

Preview screenings also feature prominently. The animated sports comedy GOAT lands in Sydney on 6 March, while readers of Colleen Hoover can attend an advance session of Reminders of Him on 11 March. Disney and Pixar’s Hoppers will preview later in the month.

Throwbacks remain a key drawcard. Shrek 2 screens in Sydney on 14 March, while Zoolander returns on 29 March, offering a dose of early-2000s absurdity to close out the month. International Women’s Day on 8 March will be marked with Bend It Like Beckham, aligning with Australia’s hosting of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup.

Beyond the films, Moonlight continues to trade on its atmosphere — picnic rugs spread across the grass, premium bean beds for hire, and on-site food and beverage options that turn a screening into a full evening out.

As Sydney edges towards autumn, the March program suggests Moonlight Cinema is intent on finishing its season with a blend of prestige, playfulness and pop under the open sky.
