A total Pink Floyd eclipse
ECLIPSE Pink Floyd Orchestrated takes the esoteric progressive rock sound of seminal band, Pink Floyd, and embellishes it with a supergroup of ten Aussie musicians, a specially assembled symphony orchestra, and 23 fresh young voices from the The Sydney Children’s Choir.
Pink Floyd’s music helped define the psychedelic and experimental sound of the 1960s and ‘70s. With monumental concept albums that include The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977) and The Wall (1979), they not only created timeless music but captured and even influenced the social ethos.
The music of Pink Floyd has an inherent electro-symphonic feel which lends itself perfectly to re-imagined arrangements Musical Director Warwick Cheatle for ECLIPSE Pink Floyd Orchestrated.
Cheatle also plays bass and guitars in the ECLIPSE band, which also features:
Jack Jones – Lead Vocals and Guitar
Cam Blokland – Lead Vocals and Guitar
Rob Wolfe – Lead Vocals and Piano
Joseph Calderazzo – Lead Guitar
Paul White – Keyboards
Brad Polain – Lead Vocals, Drums and Percussion
Diane Dixon, Natalie Ermer and Emily Kelly – Backing vocals
“Each member of the ECLIPSE band is a highly acclaimed professional performer, from a range of musical genres and backgrounds. What brings us together is the enjoyment that comes from performing some of the most powerful and amazing music ever written. Add to this, the chance to hear the synthesised sounds of Pink Floyd played with the richness of the orchestral instruments they were electronically simulating takes this aural feast to a new level,” says Cheatle.
Filling in the musical landscape is the newly created Southern Cross Symphony (SXS), whose first gig together was performing orchestral reiterations of Led Zeppelin in Adelaide.
The Sydney Children’s Choir is widely regarded as one of the best treble choirs in the world. It has selected 23 of its most rebellious members to sing the eerily subversive choral section of “Another Brick In The Wall”, which became an anti-establishment anthem of the 1980s.
In the gorgeously ornate State Theatre with its brilliant acoustics, this concert is one for fans and newcomers to the exciting music of Pink Floyd.
