YEASAYER – FRAGRANT WORLD
Yeasayer’s third album, Fragrant World, is a heavily synthed, 11-track mish-mash of genres that refuse to be pigeonholed. They range from funk to pop and use every electronic trick in the book, especially exotic-sounding keyboard experimentation. The first track, Fingers Never Bleed sounds like it could have come from a Massive Attack album but that isn’t to say that Yeasayer are unoriginal. Their talent of pulling from a multitude of musical sources while staying unique to their style is commendable. Up-tempo tracks like Blue Paper and No Bones save the album from becoming repetitive despite the original ideas behind their work.
