Maria Solheim – Will There Be Spring?

Maria Solheim – Will There Be Spring?

Will There Be Spring’ ‘ Maria Solheim

BY CHRIS PEKEN

There is a touch of gentle country twang in a guitar or two, the soft shuffle of indie pop in the rhythm section and the over-riding lullaby-lilt of Maria Solheim’s beguiling voice. Norway’s Solheim was gigging at fifteen, recording a few years later and now has four albums under her delicate little belt. Like so many others today, Solheim returned to using analogue equipment to record Will There Be Spring’ and the result is a warmer, more engaging sound that suits the intimate nature of songs like Different Seasons and Every Morning. If Solheim is good enough for the royal christening of Princess Ingrid, heir to the Norwegian throne, then she’s good enough for the likes of you and me!
