WEST AFRICAN FESTIVAL

WEST AFRICAN FESTIVAL

In its third year, the highly successful West African Festival is set to deliver a day bursting with high energy, highly invigorating performances that festival director Rachel Bangoura says will, “make people feel alive again.”

Famed Guinean Griot musician Epizo Bangoura will headline the day’s musical festivities and the main stage will feature seven other artists performing both traditional and contemporary African music and dance.

Rachel Bangoura says, “It’s an opportunity to get people to see what amazing musicians and dancers there are here in Sydney right under people’s noses…When you see the way they drum and the way they dance, it’s really electrifying and exhilarating… it’s really an amazing thing to watch.”

She encourages people who’ve never been to the festival to come along for a new experience, to participate in drum and dance workshops, browse the African arts and craft stalls and feast on authentic African food.

“It’s always a really vibrant crowd and just a really exciting, electric atmosphere.”
