Ward Park to become adventure playground

Construction of a new play area in Surry Hills’ Ward Park is set to begin later this year, following the approval of concept plans by the City of Sydney.
The plans propose the addition of a small bike track, skate area, climbing and adventure equipment including a space net, rope bridge and flying fox.
Access to the play area will be upgraded, as well as more soft-fall areas and trees to increase shade. A bubbler and bicycle racks are also in the pipeline.
The concept design was drafted with the input from local residents at a community consultation in the park late last year, according to the City.
The project is set to be completed in mid 2009.
