Two wheels better under Bridge

A group of Sydney cyclists, determined to make the transport mode even cheaper, held a bike maintenance workshop under the Harbour Bridge last week.

Dubbed a ‘Masters in Cycle Maintenance’, riders who were gathered via email lists paid $5 or $10, with overseas students being charged $20,000 in advance payment (none turned up).

The event was organised by local Garry Richards (pictured centre left) and led by Chicagoan Brad Dierschow (centre) who is a traveller working at the Bondi Bike Bar.

Acolytes learned that the back cogs are called cogs while the front cogs are called chain rings as they cleaned, adjusted and lubricated their gears and brakes.

Wandering security guards left the group in peace while the Bridge provided cover from the rain. To join future events, email Garry at garrisonroo@gmail.com.
