THEATRE: TIMON’S DAUGHTER
PREVIEW BY AMELIA GROOM
‘Too many have dispensed with generosity in order to practice charity,’ said Albert Camus.
A short play about to open at the Old Fitz Theatre, Timon’s Daughter is a pitch-black satire on the ‘giving industry’, from West End writer Glyn Cannon.
The politics of philanthropy can be complicated. We meet ‘reckless charitor’ Timon who flees bankruptcy and leaves daddy’s little abandoned 16-year old Alice in the care of ‘accountaholic’ Alan.
Dodging paparazzi and each other’s restless eyes, Alan and Alice search desperately for a man who may not want to be found.
Running late nights for four performances only, Timon’s Daughter is directed by Mark Pritchard, and stars Adam Kennedy alongside the delightful Sophie Webb. Go see.
