THE TALE OF DESPEREAUX
The Tale Of Despereaux is a film about a mouse who is born with big ears and an even bigger sense of virtue. In the tradition of Zorro, our hero Despereaux Tilling imitates the notions of chivalry that he admires and, through his adventures, transforms the individuals and the worlds that he encounters. Though the plotline does take a little while to find its footing, it quickly pulls together to deliver a potent message of courage, wisdom and what it means to be truly noble. Vivid and well-conceived animation provides a visually stunning world for the plot that unfolds within. Desperaux is a simple tale told well, which explores notions of morality with inspiring and refreshing clarity. (Trish Roberts)
