Shenoah Allen and Mark Chavez are better known as hilarious duo The Pajama Men; their own brand of character comedy wearing their Pyjamas has delivered them to worldwide success at festivals in Edinburgh, Melbourne and Sydney alike over the years.
“We wanted a blank canvas because we jump from one character to the next very quickly,” explains Allen. “We didn’t want to be bogged down with the use of props and costume changes, so we are super low-tech and we try to make do with our wits.”
Their show for the Sydney Comedy Festival, Just The Two Of Each Of Us, is the latest offering from these mates who have known and worked with each other since high school.
“We have a shorthand that we’ve developed for so long,” says Chavez, “as we’ve evolved in our work, we’ve evolved together.”
Just The Two Of Each Of Us “takes place over a couple of timelines in a location that is a little bit weird.” Chavez continues, “It takes place in medieval times and then in the present and these stories are intermingled with each other.” (LL)
