The new pole posters
Now bill posters can attract fines of up to $1,500 for postering poles or hoardings, it seems the music industry has gone mobile. This truck circled Kings Cross on Saturday night pumping out trance dance music to get the message across to clubbers thronging the streets. It illustrates the ‘balloon effect’ which occurs when authorities try to prohibit something which is popular: the activity simply finds ways around the prohibition. Let’s hope those who oppose pole posters enjoy listening to the trance music and breathing the pollution from the trucks. The City of Sydney introduced the draconian rules largely on the grounds that posters were pollution.
