THE GUILT TRIP

THE GUILT TRIP

Half scientist, half inventor, Andy (Seth Rogan) has patented a new product he’s going to pitch across the country. When he finds out about his mother, Joyce’s (Barbara Streisand) first love, he hatches a plan to reunite the old flames by inviting her on his trip.

The relationship of the unlikely pair is surprisingly believable, but Streisand outshines Rogan in the comedic department; the audience will find her over-protective and meticulous qualities endearing in comparison to the condescending attitude of her son.  However, the whole formula was predictable and the big ‘morality moment’ can be seen looming from the very start; Andy nails his sales pitch with the help of his mother, and Joyce finds closure with that teenage boy she had first fallen for.
