Ultimate purveyors of the fuzz box, heavy rockers The Datsuns, release their fifth studio album – suffice it to say, they haven’t lost their touch. Be prepared to be thrown into the depths of thrashing awesomeness with lead track, Gods Are So Bored which opens with what sounds like the languorous end of an indulgent guitar solo building up to a kick-ass rock song. With a purposeful variety of head-bangin’ tunes, The Datsuns exhibit their rock-riff prowess and versatility in the fast-paced Death Rattle Boogie. Wander the Night, the longest track on the record, is about the slinkiest the kiwi band can manage and Brain Tonic is about the most menacing but all tracks reminisce classic heavy rock whilst remaining blisteringly refreshing.
