THE CHANGE-UP

Dave (Jason Bateman) and Mitch (Ryan Reynolds) are the unlikeliest of BFFs. The former is a successful lawyer and “happily” married father of three, whereas Mitch is a mostly out-of-work, dope-smoking actor who will screw anything that moves. Due to some outrageously implausible magic event involving urine and a public fountain the two swap bodies (please refer to Freaky Friday). To enjoy this film you’ll need to embrace your inner philistine. It’s crude and vulgar and probably best if you close your eyes through the first five minutes. But, while what plays out is predictable it does have a good dose of laugh-out-loud moments and some fun performances from the lead actors. And come on, sometimes we all need a bit of lowbrow.
