Transport for NSW has issued a warning to Sydney ferry commuters on Tuesday December 13, as ferry workers will take a 4 hour stop work to vote on a new enterprise agreement. The stop work comes as Transdev workers will negotiate a new enterprise agreement with the private transport company which operates Sydney’s ferry services.

Ferry commuters have been told to plan ahead and seek alternative transport routes between 10am and 2pm, to avoid disruptions.

“We expect no impact on morning and afternoon peak hour ferry services and normal ferry services will resume from 2pm to meet peak hour demand,” Transport for NSW Chief Operations Officer Howard Collins said.

In person vote causes Sydney ferry delays

Ferry workers must gather in person to vote on the new agreement, with Transdev Sydney Ferries General Manager Operations Jarrod Graham saying the union and Transdev have “reached an agreement in principle” after 10 months of negotiations.

“The proposed EA is a four-year term agreement with the Maritime Unions. We are confident it will further strengthen our relationship with our people, trade union colleagues and bring positive results for customers, Sydney Ferries and Transport for NSW,” Graham said.

Between 10am and 2pm, Transport for NSW says commuters using the ferry service between Manly and Circular Quay may considering taking the Manly Fast Ferry, which gets passengers between the stops in 18-20 minutes.
