Sunshine Cleaning

Sunshine Cleaning

Sunshine Cleaning is a touching tale of two sisters, played with comic zest and quiet desperation by Amy Adams and Emily Blunt, who decide that cleaning up crime scenes could be their ticket to riches. There’s a lot of talk about it being a poor man’s Little Miss Sunshine (it was made by the same production house), but while it does push many of the same buttons, it is genuinely affecting and funny in its own right. The film very much depends on its actors to carry it, so thankfully the casting is brilliant. Alan Arkin is loveable, Blunt and Adams both have electric screen presence, and Clifton Collins Jr. is nothing short of super as a sympathetic, one-armed cleaning supplies store owner.
