Stables Theatre

Located in Darlinghurst Sydney, the Stables Theatre is home to the Griffin Theatre company. Devoted to the development and staging of new bold and visionary Australian writing, The company is passionate about the production of emerging and established practitioners. The intimate venue is quite unique, renovated last in 2010, the theatre retains a kite-shaped stage, housing 105 seats that create an immersive atmosphere.

The theatre company is renowned for being the premiers of the plays Prima Facie, Holding the man and City of Gold, all shows that later went on to perform nationally. World class Australian actors Cate Blanchett and Jaqueline McKenzie began their professional careers with Griffin Theatre Company. Films, Lanata, The Boys and The Heartbreak Kid were based on plays originally produced by Griffin.
