SOMETHING FOR KATE: LEAVE YOUR SOUL TO SCIENCE

Leave Your Soul to Science signals the long-awaited return to the music radar for Australian alternative rock band, Something for Kate.

Lead singer Paul Dempsey says that making another album after some time spent focusing on his solo career was always the plan for the Melbourne-trio, but admits he didn’t think it would take six years.

“We took a good long break so when we came back, we really didn’t feel like the same band anymore or even, the same people,” says Dempsey.

As a result, Something For Kate’s latest offering is brimming with fresh and different sounds, making it one of their most experimental albums to date. As a science fan himself, Dempsey’s lyrics delve into interesting ideas about scientific discovery, existentialism and notions of reality and mysticism.

“We’re really happy with how everything is sounding and we’re just kind of busting to get it out there and play again,” he says. (KD)
