For much of January cabaret stars and a bunch of drag queen royalty will transform the Sydney Theatre Company’s Wharf 1 Theatre into a rollicking nightly celebration the denizens of Sydney’s underbelly of one hundred years ago.
Hosted by award winning cabaret queen Victoria Falconer, Smashed:The Nightcap will bring world class circus, a hot live band and a raft of special guests to liven up the old Thirsty Mile on this knockout stretch of Sydney Harbour’s foreshore.
Smashed is an adults only cabaret that has previously sold out performances at the Adelaide Festival and was declared winner of the Spirit of the Fringe Weekly award.
Mine host of this camp extravaganza Victoria Falconer is currently co-artistic director of the Hayes Theatre but each year she breaks out to update the Smashed franchise.
This year Smashed:The Nightcap will feature drag star Courtney Act, no slouch to a bit of musical theatre, Pasifika drag queen and Ru-Paul contestant Kween Kong and Maori/Niuean singer/dancer/actor Karlee Misi.
They will be joined by Malia Walsh, Bridget Rose, Kelly Ann Doll, Tynga Williams and Hans, the self described cabaret International superstar.
