SLOWBOAT TO CHINAMANS

SLOWBOAT TO CHINAMANS

“Naughty, rollicking fun,” is how critically acclaimed singer/actress Sheridan Harbridge describes the show aboard the MV Mulgi, a revamped wooden antique ferry with a fully stocked bar onboard. This comical telling of iconic and historical Sydney Harbour stories is, “Fawlty Towers on the water,” and has a plethora of vibrant characters including Australia’s first double-agent Bennelong, James Squire the beer-brewer and body guard to Governor Bligh, Mary Bligh who defended her father against the militia stark naked with only a parasol and madam/gang member Tilly ‘the Queen of Woolloomooloo’ Devine. Harbridge, who plays a prostitute from Razorhurst times and a convict woman, has become obsessed with Sydney’s history. “We explore what happened to convict women after they moved to Australia. They were forced to marry, otherwise they may have died,” she explains. “We’re showing a lot of stories people don’t teach at school because they’re so dirty and smutty.” But the night won’t be only debauchery and titillation. Guests will also have the chance to take in the exquisite sunset views of the Harbour Bridge, Fort Denison, The Rocks, Lady Macquarie’s and Luna Park whilst drinking their complimentary champagne or beer and tasting the gourmet canapé dinner.

Oct 5-Dec 4, passengers board & disembark from Wharf 2, Hickson Rd, Walsh Bay, $117-137, 1300 793 008, slowboat.com.au
