SLAVA & LEONARD GRIGORYAN; JOSEPH & JAMES TAWADROS – BAND OF BROTHERS

A coming together of cultures, a coming together of instrumental virtuosos, a coming together of families. The bothers Grigoryan and Tawadros need little introduction to the classical music enthusiast. Collectively they have toured the country, toured the globe; played with maestros, and played with orchestras. That they have joined forces here to create Band of Brothers seems like the most natural of collaborations. The silken and impassioned guitar skills of the Grigoryan boys, joined by the innovative percussion of James Tawadros and the amazing Oud playing of Joseph Tawadros. Sibling rivalry has no place here, and ego is indeed a dirty word, as each player gives the others room It is often hard to untangle the stringed instruments as they weave merrily amongst themselves – melody, counter melody, rhythm and space. To classify this as a classical album is to deny it to a much larger audience, these songs would go down as well at the Annandale as they would the Opera House, the passion, joy and virtuosity on display here deserves the widest possible audience.
