SIX The Musical Set To Reign In Australia Again
The record-breaking pop musical, SIX, will tell the compelling stories of the bold, fierce, and courageous wives of King Henry VIII, each facing different fates, including divorce, beheading, death, and survival. The musical is returning to Australia in 2026, with new seasons scheduled in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, as well as a cinema event to keep fans occupied while they wait in excitement.
From history class to pop concert
SIX is about King Henry VIII’s six wives, Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard, and Catherine Parr, and turning them into a pop girl group.
Across roughly 80 minutes, each queen gets her own track to argue why she had it worst, remixing 500 years of royal drama into a stadium-style concert complete with belting, riff-offs, hip-hop style music, and rapping.
“We are thrilled to be bringing the smash-hit musical SIX back to Australia in 2026!” said producer Louise Withers. “We couldn’t ignore the roar of the Queendom — SIX has become a cultural force here, and there is incredible demand from fans who want to keep reliving the magic.”
From the Fringe Festival to a global sensation
Since its debut at Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2017, SIX has become a renowned musical, having performed in the West End, on Broadway, and on international tours worldwide, including Canada, the U.S, Europe, South Korea, Singapore, the Philippines, Japan, and China. Now, it’s set to return to Australia.
“Australian audiences have embraced the Queens with such passion and enthusiasm, and we can’t wait to share this next chapter of the show’s journey with them,” said Withers. “…This trailblazing pop-concert musical has broken records and played to packed houses, also earning widespread critical acclaim for its electrifying performances, witty storytelling, and empowering celebration of the six Tudor queens who rewrite their history on their own terms.”
SIX has won a total of 38 international awards, including two Tony Awards and a Grammy nomination. The cast recording of the musical has achieved over 5.2 billion streams, and more than 3.5 million fans attend the show each year in over 15 countries.

Behind-the-scenes efforts
Writers Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss reimagined the wives not as historical side characters, but as pop icons in their own right. The two have collaborated on the book, lyrics, and music for the show. Additionally, it’s directed by Moss and Jamie Armitage.
Choreography is by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, with set design by Emma Bailey, costumes by Gabriella Slade, lighting by Tim Deiling, and sound design by Paul Gatehouse. Orchestrations are by Tom Curran, with Joe Beighton as musical supervisor.
The show is originally produced by Kenny Wax, Wendy and Andy Barnes, and George Stiles, with the Australian seasons produced by Louise Withers, Michael Coppel, and Linda Bewick.
SIX leans heavily into empowerment, humour, and the idea that history is seen differently when women reclaim their story. Mix that with some modern pop, and you have a sold-out theatre left.
A significant part of SIX’s support plays out online. Fans of this musical are collectively known as the Queendom and have featured its songs on various platforms, including TikTok and YouTube. Moreover, members of the Queendom create many pieces of fan art and upload their own research and analysis of each queen’s backstory.
The queens are on the big screen until their time on an Australian stage
Before the new tour arrives, fans will also be able to see SIX the Musical Live!, a filmed version from London’s Vaudeville Theatre with the original West End cast. Australia will be the first country outside the UK and Ireland to screen the film, which will be available in select cinemas from 8 January 2026, for a limited time. The film has already broken stage-to-screen musical records for its release in the UK.
The Australian cast and creatives have yet to be announced, but will be soon.
