Tickets to the annual Hats Off! Oz Showbiz Cares/Equity Fights AIDS variety concert have gone on sale, as event organisers reveal production and cast details.

Hats Off! to the Classics – the 16th Hats Off! event – will be held at the Seymour Centre, Chippendale on Monday, February 11 featuring a slew of Australian showbiz luminaries.

This year’s concert will encompass musical numbers from the ‘golden age of Broadway’, big band jazz, Motown, disco, rock legends and other “classic” styles and artists.

Performers will include entertainment legends Toni Lamond AM and Nancy Hayes OAM, dancer and TV personality Joshua Horner, ‘MO’ Award winner David Harris, and Mike Snell, star of Legally Blonde: The Musical and Channel Ten reality series I Will Survive, among other productions.

Event producer Pete Silver said the concert was expected to raise tens of thousands of dollars to help fight HIV/AIDS.

“We’re aiming to raise $55,000 this year for [HIV/AIDS charities] ACON and the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation,” said Mr Silver.

“The spend will be directed towards HIV education and prevention … We’re fortunate to be living in an era where HIV is more manageable with medication but it’s still a very serious disease with new infections still occurring, so education is paramount.”

Veteran performer Toni Lamond said she was thrilled to be taking part in an initiative to help fight “this horrible disease”.

Ms Lamond has had a stellar career, having appeared in numerous Australian, British and US musical theatre productions, and iconic TV shows including Starsky and Hutch, The Love Boat and Number 96. She nominates her involvement with Hats Off! as one of her career highlights.

“The entertainment industry has lost so many wonderful people to HIV/AIDS, so as a performer it’s something I’m very keen to support,” said Ms Lamond, who has donated her time to several previous Hats Off! concerts.

Tickets to next month’s concert, which is officially part of the 2013 Sydney Mardi Gras festival, can be purchased from the Seymour Centre website – www.seymourcentre.com – or by calling (02) 9351 7940.
