RIP – SO MUSIC

RIP – SO MUSIC

There is no reason RIP couldn’t be the next big thing, that So Music couldn’t be their killer debut album. Unfortunately this isn’t so. This week let me take time out to say a pending farewell to one of Sydney’s musical gems, the little store that for twenty years could – So Music in Newtown. Could provide a wonderful and eclectic selection of music – latest releases, local bands, and a glorious world music section. Could and always did provide informative and knowledgeable service through a number of their great staff. Analogue v digital, Lucinda Williams v Patty Griffin or Diabate v Kuti, opinions freely exchanged and always enjoyed. Unfortunately the independent stand alone bricks and mortar music store is almost a thing of the past, and finally So Music are closing their doors after twenty years at the end of November.

So what i am going to do here is urge you to visit owe of the last standing music stores before it’s too late (hang on in there Red Eye!), something to tell your grandkids, i was there as they closed the doors! Drop on in – 183 King St, Newtown – aside from a little history, they are selling all CD’s at 50%! Karen, Marty, Floros et al, thanks you for your dedication, thank you for your service, long live the music!
