REPORTER CALLOUT: Join the team at City Hub

Attention all writers and wordsmiths! We are looking for confident news writers to join our team at City Hub. 

As a news reporter, you’ll pitch article ideas, cover important issues, and conduct interviews on a regular basis. You’ll report to the news editor, who will guide you in the process of conducting interviews and writing the final article.

City Hub has long been an important stepping stone for young journalists. Many of our writers have gone on to work for The Sydney Morning Herald, the ABC, and The Daily Telegraph, for instance.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about local news and the key issues facing our society today. You are full of ideas and ready to have a say in community discourse. You’ll be able to write to strict deadlines while maintaining a confident voice.

Our local newspaper, based in Ultimo, has been committed to independent coverage since 1995. Not only do we cover local voices and report on stories in the inner-city community, we also tackle the key issues of today. Our coverage includes topics like free speech, housing, gender equality, Indigenous rights, and the right to protest.

In a time where Meta is seeking to shut down access to the news, independent newspapers are crucial in providing an antidote to fake news and pushing back against the media monopoly. Now, more than ever, we need to hear from reporters, not bots.
