Pyrmont and Glebe finds future thinkers

Pyrmont and Glebe residents have been selected as two out of nine finalists in the Room for Thought project.

Pyrmontian Enrice Utomo and Glebe local Nabeelah Ali were chosen from hundreds of applicants for the project which seeks to promote creative ideas in Australia.

Mr Utomo said he was excited to be selected in the music category for his idea “Atmospheria”.

Atmospheria replicates experiences you would feel naturally through music based multimedia.

“This is a great chance for myself and other people to express our ideas to the public that would otherwise be kept to ourselves.” Mr Utomo said.

“I hope to bring this idea to life and most importantly for people to experience it.”

Ms Ali was selected within the fashion category for her concept of forming a space where emerging designers can workshop with renowned craftsmen to encourage creative use of Australian owned and manufactured items.

“I’m excited to be part of the Room for Thought campaign to get the chance to create a place that gives people a greater appreciation of craftsmanship.

“Making things is hugely rewarding, but in a country like Australia where most of our manufacturing has been shifted offshore, it’s sometimes hard to remember how fulfilling it can be,” Ms Ali said.

If Ms Ali and Mr Utomo win they get the chance to develop their ideas with the judges of the competition, Miranda Otto, Peter Alexander and Paul Mac.

Sydney music producer and performer Paul Mac praised Mr Utomo’s submission.

“Judging all the ideas submitted was a difficult process, but Atmospheria takes our room for thought into a deep immersive place where sound, light and ambience are played with to create a multi dimensional experience. Sounds fun.”
