Protestors turn out at Clover’s election fundraiser

A benefit held to raise funds for Clover Moore’s election campaign met with protestors last Saturday evening.

Ms Moore held a party at The Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation to “raise much-needed funds to help keep the electorate of Sydney safe and independent”, with tickets costing between $110 and $170.

At the protest, Ms Moore’s husband, Peter, reportedly called out “anyone for tennis” after seeing Rory Miles and suggested electing a local tennis coach to run the City because tennis was “more important than other things”.

The protest was triggered by a letter from Ms Moore addressed to people who had signed a petition against the demolition of Rushcutters Bay caretakers cottage, Rory Miles’ home for 25 years.

Donations made at the fundraiser will fund volunteer-distributed leaflets, a new website, and a campaign office for volunteers to work from.
