This year’s Primo Italiano festival in East Sydney expanded to fill side-streets off the Stanley Street core, causing some disquiet among residents.
However the day was as sunny as the weather, with thousands packing the streets to enjoy several stages showing Italian-themed entertainment and a host of stalls offering something different from the usual festival fare, from olive-oil panini to Intense Italian cheeses topping $100 per kilo, to stilt-walking butchers and a gnocchi-making workshop for the kids.
