Pride in Human Rights

Pride in Human Rights

The Sydney WorldPride Human Rights Conference is potentially the most consequential event of the entire festival; possibly – hopefully – the most consequential ever for the LGBTQI+ community world-wide.

Across three days, a convergence of human rights defenders, community members, government and political representatives, philanthropists and corporate leaders committed to LGBTQI+ rights will meet to exchange ideas, discuss problems and solutions, and address issues that affect quality of life, or life itself, for many LGBTQI+ people.

The more than 60 presenters include local and international campaigners and activists, First Nations leaders and elders, policy and law makers, elected officials, researchers and academics.  The conference is being held in the modern, conveniently located International Convention Centre (ICC) in Darling Harbour, across three levels and a number of rooms and spaces.

Keynotes, panels and roundtables with interactive workshops, performances and facilitated networking events will all be part of the three-day program which will be a combination of plenary sessions (everyone together in Darling Harbour Theatre) and break-out sessions (smaller groups in various rooms).

Topics include: fairness and safety in the legal system; future of inclusive sport; bodily autonomy; intersectionality; queerness and youth; art as politics; the anti-LGBTQI+ agenda; ageing; digital security and privacy in Asia; just to name a few. It is a very comprehensive program that seeks to represent all voices.

This is an extraordinary opportunity to be part of something truly significant.
