POTUMAYO PRESENTS – CELTIC CHRISTMAS
This sounds like it could have been a drunken bet. Whats the most niche musical genre and album we could release? World music, right? Yeah that’s fairly fringe. Ah, I know lets narrow it down even further. Celtic music it is. But here’s the kicker, it’s a Christmas album too. That only makes it relevant for a twelfth of a year, or less. It’s not relevant if you’re Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic or Jewish either, Oi vey. As tough a sell as a Celtic Christmas sounds , its actually not too bad. It’s a compilation album drawing on the worlds foremost Celtic folk outfits and artists. It features such acts as the Irish Druidstone, English The Albion Christmas Band , the Canadian composer Charles T. Cozens. The pieces are a mixture of Instrumentals and songs sung, and one particular track is a version of White Christmas in Gaelic. Other tracks are recognizable classics like Joy to the world and another one entitled Little Drummer Girl. Most other tracks would be new to most listeners. It would be quite pleasant to have as the soundtrack in the background for Christmas lunch.
