Police officer allegedly attacked and punched at Sydney WorldPride, police appeal for information

Police have released images of a man and a woman who may have been involved in the alleged assault of a police officer in Surry Hills during Sydney WorldPride last month.

On Saturday February 25 at around 8:15pm, a male officer who was on duty at WorldPride was allegedly punched multiple times in the head by a man who approached him on the street. The sergeant suffered bruises and lacerations to the face, and had to be taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment after the alleged attack.

Appeal for public assistance

Police have appealed for public assistance in locating a man and a woman who they say might be involved.

The man, who can only partially be seen in images released by police, is described as of Indian/Sub Continental appearance, aged in his 30s, between 190cm and 195cm tall, of thin build, with short dark hair and thin manicured beard.

The woman is described by police as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in her 30s, of medium build, with blonde shoulder length hair which is shaved on the right side and a tattoo on her inner left forearm.

Police urge anyone with information on the people in the photos, or with any information on the alleged assault to come forward.
