Graffiti blitz targets rail yards

Twenty-one people were arrested in a city graffiti blitz last weekend.
NSW Police and RailCorp Transit Officers arrested 10 men and 11 youths during the operation which ran between 12.30pm and 7.30pm last Saturday in the Redfern Local Area Command.
The males, aged between 12 and 36, were charged with a range of offences including malicious damage, entering rail infrastructure without permission, possession of implement with intent to damage property, supplying false details, and carrying a cutting implement.
They will appear in the Downing Centre Local Court on May 12.
The joint initiative utilised five plainclothes police officers as well as numerous uniformed and plainclothes transit officers.
Police will allege all were arrested within a fully-fenced RailCorp yard containing disused train carriages.
Among those arrested were two boys from Petersham, aged 12 and 13, who were dealt with under the Young Offenders Act for offences relating to entering enclosed lands and possessing an implement intended for use to damage property.

Timber thrown at Moore Park bus

Police are appealing for help after a missile was thrown through a bus window at Moore Park last Saturday night.
Just before 10pm on March 29, the woman bus driver pulled over to collect passengers on the Anzac Parade bus stop near Lang Road.
A group of teenagers were noticed standing nearby shortly before a lump of wood was thrown at the bus.
The wood smashed through a window about 5 metres behind the driver.
No one was injured on board the bus, although the driver was shaken.
Immediately following the incident, a group of onlookers chased the youths.
Police also spoke to a number of witnesses and youths near the intersection of Anzac Parade and Dacey Avenue.

Trio arrested after copper theft

Three men have been arrested and charged by police over the theft of copper from an electricity depot at Zetland last week.
A security officer observed the trio using bolt cutters to gain access to the Joynton Avenue property through the chain link perimeter fence about 9.30pm on Thursday March 27 before contacting Redfern police.
Once inside the intruders allegedly began collecting large piles of copper cable from storage bins and carrying them back to the hole they had cut in the fence.
The three men, aged 38, 42 and 45, were allegedly arrested by police inside a storage facility at the premises.
They were taken to Redfern Police Station, charged with aggravated break, enter and commit serious indictable offence, and granted conditional bail to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on April 18.
