NSW Police are now appealing for information after disturbing footage shared online shows a group of teenagers throwing chairs at other shoppers in the Broadway shopping centre in Glebe yesterday.

In the footage, approximately eight teenagers are seen hurling both stools and chairs towards another boy as they are also heard yelling and swearing at the boy. The boy targeted is seen fleeting away from the bigger group towards nearby escalators.

The events took place in the shopping centre’s food court on level two at around 5.30 Wednesday evening.

During the course of the incident seen in the footage online, it is also seen that some chairs are even seen falling down towards the lower levels in the shopping centre, putting shoppers on the lower levels in danger.

At least two of the  teenagers in the group are seen riding around on bikes inside the shopping centre.

A nearby woman getting on the escalator also had a chair thrown after her, striking her in the back as she only nearly escaped the group.

Incident infuriates users on social media

In a video capturing the incident, posted by Daily Mail Australia on TikTok, a user commented, “This is revolting. That poor lady who copped the chair.”

The police explained they were told the group of teenagers had confronted the targeted boy before the brawl escalated to chair throwing and yelling.

Police said the group and the boy left the shopping centre before the police arrived, and no injuries have been reported.

Local Police have commenced an investigation into the incident and are appealing for anyone with information or vision of the incident to come forward.
