Robber poses as policeman

Newtown Police arrested five males after they allegedly robbed a male in Wilson St Newtown on Friday Night. One of the men allegedly produced a pistol and claimed to be a police officer before demanding the victims wallet. A passerby witnessed the incident and called police who arrived within a few minutes. The males were arrested and charged with robbery in company and will face Newtown Local Court later this month.

Also, over the school holiday period, Newtown Police have been running joint covert operations with the Rail Vandalism Task Force targeting graffiti artists operating on the rail network. A number of arrests have been made as a result.

Police appeal for information
Police are appealing for information following the alleged assault of two security guards at Camperdown.

About 3.30am Thursday 15 January, two male security guards were outside licensed premises on Parramatta Road when they were approached by two men who allegedly ordered the guards to the ground and when they refused, the guards were assaulted.

One of the men allegedly produced a weapon and pointed it at the guards.

One of the guards attempted to take the weapon from the man and a fight ensued, resulting in one guard sustaining cuts and bruises.

The first man is described as being of Asian appearance, about 30 years old, 175 cm tall, of medium to large build, with a shaved or bald head.

The second is described as being of Asian appearance and aged in his mid 20s. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a white collared hooded jumper.

One, or both of the men, has a large colourful tattoo on the chest area and a large bright green tattoo on the back.
