PINA 3D

PINA 3D

PINA is a feature-length 3D dance film by Wim Wenders that follows the life and work of modern ballet choreographer, Pina Bausch, who died in 2009. Throughout the film there are clips of dancers and other people Pina worked with reflecting on her life. These moments are engaging, with poetic and poignant lines such as: “Pina was a painter and we became the paint to colour her images,” and, “You always felt more than just human working with Pina.” This movie is a celebration of a woman who appeared to be reticent, powerful, talented and most importantly inspirational. But I’m not sure if it’s engaging enough for people from a non-dance background. After 90 minutes of all that intensity, beauty, and loss I was begging for it to end. (ES)
