Enmore Road may not be the first place you’d go to find a fancy, schmancy dinner-and-show type of venue. But just beyond the RSL, across the road, right next to the construction site there lies Newtown’s little secret, the revamped Notes Live. If it’s grungy settings where the toilet walls are covered in scrawl and your feet stick to the floor (sound familiar?) this isn’t the place for you. Notes Live is clean, glossy and modern, and with its spanking décor, menu and stage it seems set to become one of Sydney’s best new venues. With tables positioned literally around the stage, it’s the type of place where you can really connect with the performer you’re watching. And if that cosiness gets a bit much and you feel like a little more breathing space there’s plenty of standing room up the back and two small mezzanine levels to watch the action from. Notes Live; it’s intimate and sophisticated without being pretentious. And with an impressive and diverse bill of upcoming acts, which includes Merenia & The Way, Saving Grace, Dragon and King Tide, it’s well worth a trip up Enmore Road.
