Not-for-profit art organisation, Firstdraft, has announced the full artist list for their annual fundraiser, revealing that 184 artworks will be available to bid on from today until August 2.

Since 1986, Firstdraft has been a hub for upcoming artists, providing opportunities for exhibitions, performances, and professional development. The group combines the future of contemporary art with programs that push past boundaries, becoming experimental and unique.

On its 16th annual fundraiser, Firstdraft features 184 artworks by 141 artists, ranging from early career through to well-established artists, including artists who have exhibited with Firstdraft over the last four decades.

The fundraiser for 2025 will have two parts to it, keeping it exciting for all those to join.

To kickstart the fundraiser, there is the beloved artwork auction, going live for bidding from 28 July until 2 August at 10 pm. There will also be an artwork sale directly from the gallery, opening from 5 pm, Monday, 28th of July.

Firstdraft director wants to invest in the next generation of Australian artists

For three days at Firstdraft in Woolloomooloo, from Friday, 1 August until Sunday, 3 August, all fundraiser artworks will be shown as part of a free public exhibition.

To celebrate the end of the bidding for the fundraiser, Firstdraft is hosting a free artist party at the gallery on Saturday, 2 August from 6pm-10 pm.

The party will include music from Rydeen and SOVBLKPSSY from sunset with Dot Zip on FBi radio.

“Firstdraft’s annual fundraiser helps us raise crucial funds for the organisation and is a great way to grow your collection while investing in the future of contemporary art and supporting the next generation of Australian artists,” said Firstdraft Director Caity Reynolds.

“This year, some artists have provided multiple works and there are a few different ways to participate. Of the 118 artworks available to bid on, 59 artworks are available for immediate sale at a set price and 7 artworks up for grabs in the Firstdraft artwork raffle.”

2025 sees Firstdraft begin a new initiative, where visitors will be able to visit the exhibition or view the art stalls where artists will be selling their handmade works, spanning from prints to glassworks.

Additionally, any unsold artworks will be available to buy after the bidding closes. Collectors can also buy remaining items on Sunday, 3rd August, from 11 am until 5 pm, the last day of in-person fundraising at Firstdrafts’ yearly Art Market Day.
