Police investigate suspicious fire – Pyrmont

Police are appealing for public assistance after a suspicious fire damaged a building comprising seven unit garages in Pyrmont.

Emergency services were called to the fire at Mount Street, Pyrmont, about 11pm April 29, where fire fighters extinguished the blaze.

Police believe the fire started in one of the garages, but property in all of the garages suffered either burn or heat damage.

Damaged property included cars, tools and furniture.

Initial inquiries by police suggest the fire is suspicious and further forensic examination will be conducted.

Investigators from City Central Local Area Command are now appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact them via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

One man injured, one man arrested after stabbing – Glebe

Police arrested a man on April 29 after another man was stabbed during a domestic dispute at Glebe.

Shortly after 7pm emergency services were called to a home in Gottenham Street after reports a man had been stabbed.

Ambulance Paramedics treated a 42-year-old man who had suffered a stab wound to his calf.

The man was conveyed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment to the injury.

Police officers from the Leichhardt Local Area Command established a crime scene at the location, which will be further examined by forensic experts.

Officers arrested a 36-year-old man at the scene without incident. He was taken to Newtown Police Station where he is assisting with inquiries.

Three hurt during jet boat trip – Sydney Harbour

Police from The Rocks Local Area Command were called to Sydney Harbour on May 1 after a boating incident left three people injured.

About 4pm an 18 metre jet boat used by passengers in and around Sydney Harbour returned with several passengers who had suffered injury during the 40 minute pleasure cruise.

It appears the boat had left Circular Quay about 3.20pm with 32 passengers and two crew members.

Police have been told that a short time later the vessel was travelling in an easterly direction near South Head when its master attempted to negotiate a 1.5 metre wave.

As the vessel dropped over the back of the swell it impacted heavily with the surface water and three passengers near the bow of the jet boat suffered injury.

The vessel returned to shore where it was met by emergency services.

A 57-year-old Victorian man was treated at the scene by Paramedics and conveyed to the Royal North Shore Hospital with severe back pain.

A 25-year-old Gosford woman was treated and taken to St Vincent’s Hospital with back pain and a 66-year-old international tourist with back pain refused treatment or transportation to hospital.

Police from The Rocks Local Area Command interviewed the 42-year-old master of the jet boat and inquiries into the incident continue.
