Man stabbed in Hyde Park

Police are appealing for information after a man was stabbed while walking near Hyde Park on Sunday morning.

About 3.20am, an 18-year-old man was with a group of friends walking along Park Street.

A group of males with whom they had been involved in an altercation earlier in the night was walking on the opposite footpath.

Another fight broke out between the two groups and the 18-year-old man was stabbed in the neck, possibly with a glass bottle.

A crime scene was established and the assault was examined by specialist forensic investigators.

The 18-year-old man was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital, his injuries are not considered life threatening.

Sydney goes Back to the Future for Parkinson’s

A mini-marathon screening of Back to the Future Parts II and III will take place at Event Cinemas George Street, this Sunday at 6pm.

Organised by Parkinson’s NSW in partnership with Universal Pictures and Event Cinemas, the event will present new digitally re-mastered versions of the classic films with proceeds going to support people living with Parkinson’s.

Ticket holders will have the chance to be photographed in and alongside the iconic DeLorean and take part in a karaoke sing off to the strains of Huey Lewis’ ‘The Power of Love’.

“The impact of this disease is widespread in our community as it affects not only the estimated 80,000 people diagnosed in Australia, but also their families, carers and friends,” said Miriam Dixon, CEO, Parkinson’s NSW. “About 15 percent of those diagnosed are also under the age of 40 and our greatest reminder of this is the star of the Back to the Future series, Michael J Fox.”

Man charged, drugs and chemicals seized – Beverley Hills and Sydney

Man arrested over drug possession

Police have charged a man with drug possession after a vehicle stop and subsequent search warrants in Sydney and Beverly Hills last Saturday.
About 12:45am, police stopped a silver Mini Cooper on Henry Lawson Drive at Milperra.During a search of the car police allegedly located a small amount of methyl-amphetamine as well as a skimming device, fraudulent licences and credit cards, several mobile phones, sim cards and drug paraphernalia.

Subsequent inquiries led police to conduct a search warrant at a premise in York Street. At the premise police allegedly located methyl-amphetamine in the process of being manufactured as well as chemicals commonly used in the manufacture of prohibited drugs.

The State Crime Command’s Chemical Operations Unit was called to the scene to examine the chemicals, render the area safe and secure the drugs.

The 26-year-old man was arrested and taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with two counts of possessing prohibited drugs and possessing fraudulent Australian licences, one count of dealing with identity information to commit indictable offence and other traffic-related offences.
