Tram restoration

Council is investigating options for the restoral and possible removal of six historic trams at the former Rozelle Tram Depot on the Harold Park Paceway site in Glebe.

The trams have been in a state of neglect since their relocation to the Depot in the early 1990s.

Barangaroo skate park

Council has voted to lobby the Barangaroo Delivery Authority for a skate park in the Barangaroo Development and hopes to work with the local skateboarding community in designing and implementing the project.

Sydney to fly flag for gender equality

Town Hall will fly the Equal Pay Flag, featuring two purple lips, representing the campaign for gender wage equality.

Drug bust

The NSW Police Asian Crime Squad has charged a 46-year old man after allegedly finding 44kg of pseudoephedrine in washing powder cartons.

Police say the $1.3 million drug stash was confiscated from a premises on Lachlan St, Waterloo, in December along with $1.16 million cash and a loaded handgun.

Police later confiscated an automatic firearm, two loaded magazines, a silencer and a substance believed to be crystal methylamphetamine, and put a restraining order on $14 million worth of assets.

Bus death

A 32 year-old American student hit by a bus on Enmore Road on May 9, died in hospital on Sunday.

Police investigations are still underway.

Central Station assult

A 29 year-old Casula man has been charged with the attempted murder of a CityRail attendant, attacked at Central Station at 6:30 Friday morning.

The attendant has regained consciousness after being beaten on the head by a wooden implement, causing a fractured skull and bleeding to the brain.

Flying-fox relocation

The Federal Government has approved the relocation of a large group of flying-foxes living in the Royal Botanic Gardens.

Botanic Gardens Trust Executive Director, Dr Tim Entwisle welcomed the decision, saying the animals badly damaged the heritage trees.

Sydney cycleway network

Lord Mayor Clover Moore presented the findings of a new independent report on the economic benefit of cycling in Sydney.

Council said the research shows 284km inner Sydney regional network across 164 suburbs would have huge economic benefits over 30 years.

The 20th Darling Harbour Jazz & Blues is on from Friday to Sunday.

Performers include The Strides, James Morrison, Ash Grunwald, Harry Manx, Jeff Duff, The Jim Pennell Duo, and those who brave the Open Mic Stage.
