David Helfgott, the quintessential child prodigy, is primed for some time on a stage and a piano that his wife, Gillian, declared earned him, “the most fantastic responses of his career.” And performing the iconic works that earned him the glowing gold stars in the first place; Beethoven’s Waldstein Sonata and Mozart’s A Minor Sonata, plus Rachmaninonov and the Flight of the Bumblebee – the piece he played at the Academy Awards at which the movie of his life, Shine, picked up an Oscar.
