MUGABE & THE WHITE AFRICAN

MUGABE & THE WHITE AFRICAN

Mugabe and the White African is a profoundly affecting and important documentary. Directed by Lucy Bailey and Andrew Thompson, it is a heartfelt lament for the thousands of white farmers living in Zimbabwe who have been violently removed from their land by president Robert Mugabe’s racist and self-serving land reform policy. To keep their family home, 75-year-old Mike Campbell and his son-in-law Ben Freeth charge Mugabe with discrimination and human rights violations in South Africa’s International Court. But even as they are subjected to escalating intimidation, violence and foul-play from Mugabe’s party (the ZANU-PF), Campbell and his family demonstrate unwavering determination, courage and generosity of spirit. Infuriating and heart wrenching, though in many ways up-lifting, Mugabe and the White African is a testament to the strength of the human spirit when faced with great adversity and gross injustices. Unfortunately, this vital and unmissable film has yet to find wide distribution in Australia. To find out more, visit www.mugabeandthewhiteafrican.com. (JH)
