MOVIE: THE HURT LOCKER

“War is a drug.” The opening line from Kathryn Bigelow’s newest directorial effort The Hurt Locker makes it instantly clear that despite the influx of movies based on the Iraq War; this is one film that thankfully provides a refreshingly new experience. Following the final days of elite army bomb squad Bravo Company’s rotation, The Hurt Locker avoids setting any political agendas and instead focuses on setting up scene after scene of nail biting tension that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Overall Bigelow has made one of the best films on the Iraq War to date – a stellar showcase of truly intense action and suspense while exploring a fascinating insight into the psyche of the American soldier.
