MOVIE: MU-MESON ARCHIVES

For those of you who don’t know about the Mu-Meson Archives … where have you been? The Archives, run by Miss Death and Jay Katz, are the centre of the universe when it comes to underground culture and cult cinema in Sydney – but the obscene obscurities and extraordinary cinematic treats will cease to be, unless you get your butt off your sofa and into the Archives … where a comfier sofa – and a warm cup of soup with crusty bread – awaits you. Highlights on the September program include: Para(noid) Politics – get your fix of conspiracy every Monday night (Hollywood and the UFO on Mon 28th looks to be the Para(noid) pick of the month); for kitschy creature feature delights, Cult Sinema Tuesday is the place to be (Blood Beach on Tues 29th at the Annandale Hotel sounds like a mutilation masterpiece); and of course, Miss Death’s monthly knitting group – 4pm on Sunday 20th Sept (bring a plate of food and learn – or improve some craft). Whatever your obscure taste, Mu-Meson is likely to have a tonic for you.

Most nights, Mu-Meson Archives, cnr Parramatta Rd & Trafalgar St, Annandale (at the end of King Furniture building up the steel staircase), some screenings at Annandale Hotel, free-$25, 9517-2010 or mumeson.org
