MOVIE: DANCE FLICK

MOVIE: DANCE FLICK

You know the Wayans brothers, right? Blaxploitation and prosthetic identities, parodies and toilet humour? Well, they’re back, and they’ve brought the next generation of Wayans with them to take on the dance movie. Fertile ground indeed, when you think about the dubious acting and predigested storylines of most hoof-and-shimmy flicks, and they plough it for all it’s worth. To give you a taste of the sort of gags (and groans) you can expect, the film opens with a dance move that makes creative use of urine, peaks with a well-endowed dance teacher called Ms. Cameltoe (pronounced ‘Camel-tois’) and ends with a man in a fat suit. Who could resist? The Scary Movie template may well be a defiled equestrian corpse and this film is silly as all hell, but even in a room full of grumpy critics it extracted a fair amount of helpless guffaws. (AF)
