This weekend, Elizabeth Bay is going back in time to when WWII was ending and the world felt right again. Held by Sydney Living Museums and the Festivalists, Mayhem will be transforming Elizabeth Bay House from the modern day to post-war 1945, where locals will celebrate the end of the war and the sad goodbye to the American GIs who transformed Kings Cross into a lively and liberal hub.

Business Coordinator Ed Champion explained this Mayhem event is about the last kind of hurrah they had to celebrate the end of the war. He is hoping everyone will dress up in their best 40’s get up.

What you can expect when you attend this event is three levels of celebrations including dancing lessons where the Sydney Swing Cats will teach you the jitterbug, delicious food and drinks plus a well-stocked bar if you’re feeling in a very celebratory mood. There will also be a photo booth and performance group Jetpack Collective will be reciting real letters sent from the front line.

Down below in the cellars will be a high stakes black market casino where you can put it all on black or see if you’re lucky with a little game of blackjack. For those who are curious there is also an adults-only peep show in a hidden room at the back. Get your tickets now to the best 1945 event in 2016. (AMal)
