Lunatics on Pogosticks – Sleeping Til the Weekend
Sleeping Til the Weekend is a simplistic Ep. Uncomplicated rhythms perform the function of backing to the lyrics without drawing attention to themselves and allowing the natural vocals to linger over the top.
The combination rides along the five tracks without change, innocently complaining about the problems of young love and life. The lyrics are easy going and the songs are similarly repetitive, stemming from the purity in the group’s simple rock band structure.
Listening to this Ep is like sitting on the cold floor in a high school assembly with one of the bands from music class playing their fast and heartfelt original songs between covers of ACDC and Guns and Roses.
The Ep builds on the previous works and experiences of the artists, displaying an endearing transparency between real life and musical expression. (SP)
