Local rocker brings city grooves

If you’ve walked through the CBD and wondered why you can hear Elvis Presley nearby, stop and take a look over your shoulder.

Mirko Krizmanic scoots along George Street every day and plays his favourite music on his boom box as he goes.

“I use it just for music so I can go round with the music, you know,” he says with a grin. “Because how am I going to carry speakers and all of that?”

He used to own a Walkman, but since buying his scooter only a few weeks ago he’s been zooming around with the boom box turned up.

Elviz, Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison are nicer to listen to than city traffic and Sydney buses, he said. Lots of people will often join in with a bit of a dance every now and then, he said.

“All music from ‘Fifties and ‘Sixties and early ‘Seventies. That’s my kind of music…especially rock. . . You’re still young when you’re healthy and feel fine” he said.
