LIVE WIRE – Sydney Live Music Guide November 29th

Mitzi: Brisbane dance-pop quartet Mitzi are taking to the road to promote their latest single Who Will Love You Now. The single will be the first release from their keenly anticipated upcoming album. The critical enthusiasm for their first EP All I Heard was so high, they were touted as Australian artists to watch in 2011 by NME and In The Mix, and played sets at popular festivals Splendour in the Grass and Subsonic.

Deep Sea Arcade: This year has been a watershed one for the Sydney band after releasing their long awaited debut Outlands. They toured Europe and the United States as well as embarking on several national tours supporting Kaiser Chiefs  Bluejuice and their own sellout headline tours. The group is seeing out the year by releasing a new single from the record – Granite City – and it’ll be one of the last opportunities to see them live before they head into the studio in the new year to work on their second album.

Omar Rodriquez Lopez Group: The prolific musician, film-maker, producer and label manager returns to Australia in solo work configuration. This leader of mind-bending psych rock group The Mars Volta as well as guitarist for post-core rockers At The Drive In, is known for writing some pretty cinematic and atmospheric solo music; music that often accompanies his own film productions as well as probably acting as the soundtrack to his vivid imagination.

78 Saab: One of the most loved Sydney rock bands of the last 15 years, 78 Saab are finally calling it a day and playing their final ever show. As a true example of a band that strictly did it for the love of music, they played somewhere in the order of 350 live shows and released four albums, shipping almost a million discs. Don’t miss out on catching the legendary live group one last time.

Sat, Dec 1, Annandale Hotel

Primal Scream: Seminal alternative rock group Primal Scream return to Australia on the 30th anniversary of their conception. The Scottish band has been pioneers in indie-pop music, incorporating elements of psychedelic rock, garage and dance music into their sound over the years. With a new album currently in the works the group are setting out to remind us that not only are they still relevant, but they are still cutting edge.
